A left over cold war note:
....it got serious in the army....Germany was divided into 4 sections, Russian, US, British and French.  each country was allowed to have a jeep or two with their markings that were free to drive thru any sector...but there were scary signs ...if you see this jeep notify your command hdqrs immediately!
